I recently adopted a cat from this shelter (Eric) and I couldn’t have asked for a better team to help me out. They gave me so much information on his care, they let me meet with him multiple times and he is the absolute best cat. It’s ridiculous I think I actually got the best cat in the world. He has been so cared for by them, he really just wants to be loved and I’m so happy I’m the one who’s able to give him the home he needs. I cannot thank the newington team enough for their help and guidance, you guys are rockstars doing amazing work.
I had to put my 22 year old cat to sleep due to health issues. The staff was extremely friendly and sympathetic. They walked me through the entire process, offered a place to say goodbye (almost an hour of time!!) and Allison (medical team) sat and talked with me for a bit. I never felt pressured, guilty for what I was doing or less than. I will definitely recommend. And when the day comes that I'm ready for another feline friend, I will look here first for adoption.
Just wanted to say happy holidays to everyone! Travis is an amazing dog and with time has come to love his new home❤️thank you CT Humane Society for letting us adopt him!
Animals come first, people come second, as it should be. I was there on a busy Saturday to meet a certain dog. Eventually a staff member brought the dog to me and told me what she knew about him and his history. I had some alone time with him and was allowed to walk him outside for a while. I have 3 days to decide if I want to adopt him while he finishes a round of meds he's taking.
They let you spend as much time as you want with your animal of choice. I was able to walk him outside. It was nice to be able to see how he reacted to different situations before bringing him home.
Very disappointed in this place. We went and donated food. When we asked if we could see the dogs we were told NO. The dogs can be viewed in the binder. If there is one you would like to meet they will bring it out. We sat down, opened the binder and there were two dogs in it. When we asked about why there were only 2 dogs in there they said they will not let us walk through because tthe dogs were not calm when people walked through and that if the dog was pending any kind of medical care (spay or neuter) they still would not be put as available. They said they would not put any dogs on hold and we should just watch the website. VERY POOR POLICY. You are turning away wonderful owners that could give these dogs great homes. You need to make a change in your "policy" SMH
They definitely don’t care like they say they do. My boyfriend tried to bring in his dog so that he can be rehomed & they wouldn’t take him! As much as he wants to keep him, it’s not fair for him to stay with us because we work so much & have other things going on in our lives. They’re preventing a dog to be in a way better home with more attention & everything else just because they don’t want to take care of him. He’s a friendly dog & not aggressive at all. These idiots don’t want to take him just because he’ll have anxiety lol. These are the most stupid group of people that work here & whoever makes the rules are also stupid because you guys are supposed to care about animals, right? I feel bad for the pets that get brought here & get turned down because some owners would actually feel like they have no choice but to let them out the house. Seems like you guys don’t care though. I really hope karma comes for you guys one day, seriously!!!
The front desk staff needs an attitude adjustment or more customer service training because they treated us like we were a burden. We came to look at cats so they told us to sign in, we signed in, then they said there were no cats to see and no dogs to see...so why did we have to sign in again?
